Roam Local Events ("we," "us," or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use the Roam Local Events mobile application (the "App"). By using the App you agree to the practices described in this policy.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Information You Provide

  • Account & Profile Data: When you sign in through an external provider (Google, Facebook, Microsoft, LinkedIn, or X/Twitter) we receive your name, email address, and profile picture as authorized by that provider.
  • User-Generated Content: Event listings, organization details, venue information, musician profiles, vendor booth listings, reviews, comments, and any other content you submit through the App.
  • Contact Messages: Messages you send to event organizers, venues, or musicians via the App.
  • Organization Applications: Information you submit when applying to list an organization on the platform.

1.2 Information Collected Automatically

  • Device & Usage Data: Device type, operating system version, app version, pages viewed, interactions, and time spent in the App.
  • Log Data: IP addresses, access times, and error logs used to maintain App stability.
  • Location Data: If you grant location permission, we use your approximate location to surface nearby events. Location data is used in-session and is not stored on our servers.
  • Push Notification Tokens: A Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) device token is stored on our servers to deliver push notifications for events, friend activity, and App updates. You can revoke this permission at any time in your device settings.
  • Analytics (Microsoft Clarity): We use Microsoft Clarity to collect session-level analytics, including interaction heatmaps and usage patterns. See Microsoft's Privacy Statement for details.

1.3 Information from Third-Party Sources

We aggregate event data from publicly available sources (websites, social media, public APIs) to populate event listings. We do not link this public data to your personal account.

2. How We Use Your Information

  • Authenticate your identity and maintain your account session.
  • Display personalized event recommendations based on your interests and location.
  • Deliver push notifications for events, friends activity, and App updates (with your permission).
  • Share your interaction data (RSVPs, favorites, attendance) with event organizers for event management purposes.
  • Power the Friends feature, allowing friends to see events you have interacted with.
  • Manage gamification features including badges, points, and leaderboards.
  • Enable real-time features via SignalR connections.
  • Analyze usage patterns to improve App features and stability.
  • Communicate important updates and promotional content (you may opt out at any time).
  • Comply with legal obligations and protect the rights and safety of our users.

3. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell your personal information. We may share it in the following circumstances:

  • Event Organizers: When you RSVP, favorite, or otherwise interact with an event, your name, email, and interaction details are shared with the event organizer for event management purposes.
  • Other Users (Friends Feature): Events you interact with may be visible to users you have connected with as friends inside the App.
  • Service Providers: We share data with vendors who help us operate the App, including hosting (Microsoft Azure), push notifications (Firebase/Google), and analytics (Microsoft Clarity). These providers are bound by confidentiality obligations.
  • External Login Providers: Identity information is exchanged with Google, Facebook, Microsoft, LinkedIn, or X solely to verify your identity and enable sign-in.
  • Legal Compliance: We may disclose information when required by law or to protect our rights, prevent fraud, or ensure user safety.

4. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored on servers hosted in the United States. We use HTTPS/TLS for all data in transit and rely on platform-level security (Apple Keychain / Android Keystore via SecureStorage) to protect authentication tokens on your device. While we take reasonable precautions, no system is 100% secure.

5. Your Choices and Rights

  • Location: You can deny or revoke location access at any time in your device settings. The App will still function without it, but location-based event suggestions will be unavailable.
  • Push Notifications: You can disable push notifications in your device settings at any time.
  • Access & Correction: You may review or update your profile information within the App account settings.
  • Account Deletion: You may request deletion of your account and associated data by contacting us. Requests are processed within 30 days.
  • Opt-Out of Marketing: You may opt out of promotional communications by following the unsubscribe instructions in those messages or adjusting your notification settings in the App.

6. Children's Privacy

The App is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately so we can delete it.
